Hi, I’m Sam—language lover, cake enthusiast and expert English teacher for people starting a new chapter in the UK.

Having lived abroad and spent most of my career helping people find their feet in the UK, I know what it’s like to feel out of place, isolated or uneasy in new surroundings.

But I also know that with a little practice and support, it’s perfectly possible to feel at home here—especially when you’re part of a friendly community of like-minded people.

Whether you want to learn everyday English or find your dream job, I’m here to teach you the language you need to live an independent, fulfilling life anywhere in the UK, while having fun along the way.

This is a place where you can feel comfortable making mistakes and expressing yourself freely in English—it’s easier to learn that way!

I believe:

English belongs to all of us

… and you should never feel nervous or self-conscious about speaking it.

Learning should be fun

Think of me as your teacher and your friend—I’m here to support you and have fun.

Mistakes don’t matter

Language is about connection, not perfection. Expect to speak, make mistakes and be OK with it!

Sam is such a kind and great person. Before I started, I was scared she wouldn’t understand me, and that we would struggle to communicate but I feel so comfortable in her classes and she listens to me all the time.

Everything about her classes is useful! She ensures that you learn and understand everything clearly and she corrects you if you have any mistakes. The classes have really helped me because I feel more comfortable and confident when I speak in English

Would you believe that I never planned to be a teacher?

I actually spent the first four years of my career in recruitment, helping people who had just arrived in the UK find work.

It wasn’t until I left that job in search of something more fulfilling that I tried out teaching and realised this was exactly what I was meant to do.

While I was teaching at a local language school, I met several students who felt isolated from the community.

It was then that I decided to help people in a similar situation practise English and settle into life in the UK.

And that’s when the Midway Language Café was born.

My goal is to give English learners like you a pressure-free space to practise speaking, connect with like-minded people and truly feel at home in the UK.

It brings me so much joy to watch my clients gain confidence in their English and pursue their goals, and I’d love nothing more than to help you do the same!

Sam is wonderful! Her professionalism and well-thought sessions will help you to make your way to the next level in English language learning.

Whether you have basic knowledge of the language or you’re looking for an “English for Business” type of course, I would highly recommend contacting Sam
